Hello again - on the move these days. We've been on a 20 mile trek the last several days to open camps. We were pinned down at Rimfire camp by northwest winds yesterday, after snowshoeing 7 miles from our Kahiltna camp to Sable Camp and then Fire Brick the day before. Our snowshoes are getting a workout!
We'll be working on our HEAVY equipment winter road next and are planning to move equipment 30 miles to our Sable Camp - weather permitting of course.
Opening our camps...
While we try to have turn key camps, some are open only in winter. Each camp must be hand-shoveled out, and repairs completed because of bear and weather damage. Each must have an operational wood-stove with firewood, propane and gas. Food needs to be properly stored in locking steel drums.
